When it comes to work, what does your age have to do with it?

Do you ever feel like your employer avoids giving you assignments, refuses to promote you or offers you unfair benefits -- among other things -- because of how old you are? If so, you may be entitled to file an age discrimination claim against the responsible parties. In California and elsewhere, your age is not a reason for an employer to discriminate against you.

Bullies aren't only found on school playgrounds

Many California residents recall moments in their childhoods when they faced antagonizing behavior from bullies. Sadly, this problem has not vanished on playgrounds inthe United States. Bullying doesn't necessarily disappear once a child grows up and enters the workforce either. In fact, the gravity of many such situations intensifies exponentially when those doing the bullying are adults.

Permanent residents not required to show green cards

Prospective employees in California and around the country who are considered lawful permanent residents of the United States are not required to show their green cards as part of the hiring process. The Office of Special Counsel for Immigration-Related Unfair Employment Practices of the U.S. Department of Justice came to a settlement with a landscaping company that required its immigrant employees to provide their green cards as part of the process of employment verification.
